Misdemeanant Taxi Drivers Goaded To Order

Cape Town taxi rank became a War Zone today here in South Africa as SAPS (South Africa Police Service) stepped in to discipline misdemeanant Taxi operators who had beat up a police officer who was clamping an unlicensed taxi. The traffic police was empowered to clamp on cars that are not roadworthy and taxis' have not been spared. However, rowdy taxi drivers and conductors turned resistant and violent which forced SAPS to reinforce and to bring them to order. Taxis had turned into nightmares and daymares on the road as they drove anyhow in disrespect of the traffic laws causing unnecessary loss of life due to recklessness. SAPS' intervention suspended the movement of taxis today and left many people stranded in town. It was however a necessity as rowdy taxis were operating in lawlessness and were terrorising motorists.
