Drugs & Substance Abuse Still A Cause Of Concern In SA & Zim

A rapid rise in cost of living has forced a lot of people mainly in South Africa and Zimbabwe to be victims of drugs and substance abuse as a way of trying to cushion themselves from the reality side of life. The Gaze Magazine will take a Case Study on Cape Town, South Africa and Harare, Zimbabwe. A local shop in Kensington, Cape Town was almost burnt due to abuse of marijuana a few days ago after some local residents where psyched out due to abuse of drugs. Locals, Police and the fire brigade had to step in to put out the fire which if was not taken care of was going to get out of hand. The drug abuse in this area is so serious that they even drug dogs in their negligence and unauthorized shacks areas are the most dangerous areas as they end up being a habitation of mafia kingpins who rob residents who will be doing their daily routines. Other drug dealers are dotted in the areas for brisk business and targeting clients in the area and beyond.  In the Center City of Cape Town a lot have errenously made themselves homeless as a result of the joy that comes with taking drugs and substance abuse. It is sad that they are no longer worried about the dangers that come with staying on the streets. The City authorities sometimes take them to shelters to try and clear the streets off but these drug and substance abusing people find there way back into the streets again. However, it is not only the poor that have been hit with this scourge but the rich are also victims as exhibited by their lifestyle in the city area. They dress in oversize and shabby clothes and their mannerisms are an allegory to the World. In Harare, Zimbabwe things are not any different as the same adage
of drugs and substance abuse continues. In areas like Highfields one of Harare's oldest ghetto suburbs stretching through to Gazaland they abuse a substance known as "Guka" or "Dombo" which is very dangerous because it can psyche out a person for days. Unemployment they say has been a major reason for the youths to engage in these activities. This article was just a highlight of the damages and dangers caused by drug abuse.
